Story

Raymond Maxwell Cranswick, “Ray”, was a devoted husband to Dodie and a wonderful father and grandfather. He served overseas with the Canadian Armed Forces during World War II and received the 1939-45 Star and the France & Germany Star for his service as a Lance Corporal in a mobile supply unit in Belgium, Holland and France. He joined the Toronto Fire Department in May 1949, and spent 32 ½ years as an aerial man at 12 and 17 Stations. During his off-duty time, he was a volunteer at St. Crispin’s Anglican Church and enjoyed many memorable summers with his family at the one-of-a-kind cottages he built at Wasaga Beach, Ontario. He spent his life always willing to come to the aid of family or friends in need and was always ready to go shopping for a good deal! He is remembered as a very sociable person with a ready smile and a jar of picked onions for his friends.
