Story

Firefighter Hill joined the CFB Esquimalt Fire Department in September 1988 and remained with the department until the time of his death in August 23,2012.

Firefighter Hill was a caring Firefighter who reached out to those in need within the Community, served as one of the Fire Department's Master Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Instructor/Trainers. He helped many Firefighters along with their studies in the challenging EMR Course as well as training and mentoring new EMR instructors.

Firefighter Hill was always the first firefighter to start a donation drive to help those who had been touched by some form of disaster either natural or manmade whether they are in the local community or on the far side of the world. In addition, Firefighter Hill entered a CFB Esquimalt Fire Truck in a local Christmas Fire Truck Parade which he, members of his family, and members of the Fire Department decorated for this event. It was not uncommon for Fire Fighter Hill to come home with the First Place Trophy and he was always ready with his Santa Clause suit to put a smile on a child's face at a Christmas Party. Something that brought him great joy has he battled his illness.

Firefighter Hill's service to his community did not stop there as a Firefighter, David Hill served from 1987 to 1995 with the Langford Volunteer Fire Department where he rose to the rank of Lieutenant and rendered aid to countless people in their time of need. During this time period, he responded to many alarms.

Firefighter Hill was a member of Local IAFF Local F3 Federal Firefighters. He was also a member of Local 21009 (CFB Esquimalt Firefighters) Union of National Defence Employees.
