Douglas "Doug" William James Angrove
Fire Chief
Story
Douglas William James Angrove began his journey on May 26, 1957 in Victoria, BC. An older brother to Mike and David, he grew up in Esquimalt where his love of lacrosse eventually took him to the Mann Cup. When he was 22, Doug began his career in firefighting and over the years, he proudly worked his way to Deputy Fire Chief and then, ultimately to the position of Fire Chief of Victoria. In all, Doug dedicated 34 years to his career. In 1980, Doug met the love of his life, Sandy, and they were married on September 19, 1981. Soon followed two beautiful daughters, Jenna and Amy. Over the years, Doug developed his passion for many activities including cycling, kayaking, hiking, traveling, camping, playing Old Timer’s Hockey, many Starbucks dates, and spending Friday nights with wine on the deck with family and friends.
Doug will be remembered for his humour, his devotion to the Fire Service, and to Urban Search and Rescue - something he was very passionate about. Of the many accomplishments in his life, the most important to Doug was family. He treasured his girls (Sandy, Jenna, and Amy) and he was thrilled to be a Grandpa. Doug was a true family man and he will be missed.
