John Charles Cassidy
Fire Chief
Story
Fire Chief John Cassidy
Family Memories:
John was known for his passion and enthusiasm for the fire service. He began his career with the Whistler Fire Department in 1990, moving his young family back to Vancouver Island to take a job as a firefighter/inspector with the Colwood Fire Department in 1999. He moved up the ranks and became Chief in 2017. John will be remembered as a respected leader, a trusted colleague that could always be counted on, and as a kind man who's door was always open, willing to listen and help in any way he could for those that needed it. There was no greater honor for John than serving the residents of Colwood, which he proudly did for 22 years.
His death is the result of a work-related illness.
John is survived by his wife and two children.
