Story

Tyler Riley Manych

Riley was critically injured while on a training exercise with Manitoba Wildlands Fire Service and passed away the next day on July 12th, 2022. Riley was 23 at the time of his passing.

“Riley”, as he was known to his good friends and family, was a humble, yet proud, third generation volunteer fire fighter with the Town of The Pas Fire Department for 5 years, and a Manitoba Wildland Firefighter for 4 years.

Family memories

Riley was a quiet, hardworking, fearless guy with a big heart, charitable spirit, strong work ethic and a love of fire and all that the wilderness had to offer. He volunteered for everything fire department related and was an excellent mentor to many young people within the fire service community. His deep voice and extreme calm demeanor in stressful situations captured the respect of many in the fire service and despite his young age, Riley was a known entity of leadership within the Manitoba Fire Service community.

As a young man, Riley donated to the local animal shelter, community school and fundraised regularly for the Children’s Burn Foundation. Riley did everything he could to help with fire education in the north. He loved music, played several instruments and was a master of the electric guitar. Riley is loved by his entire family, his infectious deep laugh, giant smile, and strong bear hugs will be deeply missed by all who knew him well. The echoes of his voice and encouraging calm nature will help us move forward, as we try to carry on in his name. Life without his laughter will never be the same.
