Family Memories / Souvenirs de famille

Gary – or “GOOBER” as he was known by his fellow firefighters and friends was an extremely dedicated member of the Kingston Fire Department for 32 years.  He began his Firefighting career in Kingston at the young age of 20 and never looked back.  Gary took extreme pride in everything he did within the fire service and willingly, lent a hand in extreme conditions that required fast and sound decision-making skills.  He had a unique sensor of humor that was appreciated by his colleagues and was both the recipient of many pranks and was often a prankster himself.  His firehouse family meant so much to Gary and we discovered after his passing even more wonderful stories of his courage, bravery, mentoring, and heroic feats in the line of duty.

He was 100% dedicated to being a firefighter and appreciated that everyday of his career.

Gary’s death was the result of a workplace illness that after diagnosis he succumbed to in a very                short period of time.  He left us with so many amazing memories including George Jones 8-Tracks,    rides in his Chevy Impala convertible, shiny white-wall tires, Labatt’s 50, and the late-night trips              for he and Mom to Tim Hortons to meet with their friends.

Gary, Dad, and Grandpa is lovingly remembered and cherished by his wife (Linda), children                 (Brent and Steacy), grandchildren (Nicholas, Quinn, Jacob, Kailee and Keenan), friends and extended family within the fire service.

Forever in our Hearts; today and always.
