Story
BATALLION CHIEF BRUCE TEBBUTT
VANCOUVER FIRE RESCUE SERVICES, VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA
Retired Vancouver Fire Rescue Service’s Battalion Chief Bruce Scott Tebbutt passed away on March 27, 2023 after a courageous battle with work-related cancer at the age of 62.
With a career spanning 35 years; Bruce loved his job and cherished the close friendships he developed with his fellow firefighters.
Bruce dedicated his life to his family. He was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend; at all times showing love and support. He was admirably selfless and kind, always putting others before himself.
Besides his family, Bruce's greatest passion was sports. A natural athlete, he was a competitor at any and all sporting activities he tried. As a young boy, he played minor hockey, baseball and swam competitively at Hasting Park/Pool. Later he played Junior Hockey (Northwest Caps) then joined the UBC Men's Team in 1980/81. In his late 20's, he completed his first Ironman Triathlon (Penticton) and went on to complete three more.
Loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Forever in our hearts.
