DEPUTY CHIEF MAURICE CONWAY - DISTRICT OF NORTH VANCOUVER FIRE DEPARTMENT, BC
Deputy Chief Maurice Conway died from a work-related illness on February 25, 2023. He joined the fire service in 1967.
Maurice, or "Moe" as he was affectionately known, was a member of the District of North Vancouver Fire Department, serving with dedication for twenty-nine years. He was renowned for his honesty, fairness, and caring nature, earning the respect of his colleagues and the community.
As the union president for many years, Moe tirelessly advocated for the rights and well-being of his fellow firefighters. His ability to connect with people, often referred to as the "gift of the gab," made everyone feel at ease and welcome in his presence. Moe's social nature and zest for life were evident in his numerous passions, including hunting, fishing, camping, and outdoor adventures with family and friends.
After his retirement, Moe was able to fulfill a lifelong dream by spending his years in the BC Cariboo, a region he cherished from childhood. Tragically, Moe's life was cut short by a work-related illness, but his memory lives on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Moe's legacy of service, camaraderie, and love for life ensures that he will never be forgotten and will always remain in our hearts.
