Family Memories

Zachery (Zak) was a proud member of BigCat Wildfire out of Penticton BC. He was a tireless worker who was so full of life, enthusiasm, warmth and understanding. He had a passion for kindness and helping others. Always quick with a smile, Zak had so many attributes that defined him, none more than his burning desire to become a firefighter and the will to protect others.

He loved to travel and was always up for trying new things. Zak genuinely loved life to its fullest and was grateful for all that he had and accomplished. He loved the gym and was passionate about wellness and nutrition.  Snowboarding, golf, volleyball, basketball and running were among his many interests. As the youngest of six, Zak was the ultimate listener and had patience beyond his years. He joined the Wildland Wildfire community because he wanted to make a difference. He truly loved what he was doing. Like him... it was a gift.

On July 28, he was a passenger in an ATV that rolled over a cliff, while fighting the Donnie Creek Fire, near Fort St. John, BC. He was a wonderful, caring and loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, grandson, cousin and friend. Our memories are rich with joy, pride and love as we endeavour to move forward.
