Story

Lieutenant William Roth died from a work-related illness on April 8/1998. He joined the fire service in 1967.

Bill or “Lyle” as he was known by his fellow firefighters, was a proud member of the Stratford Fire Department for 28 years.

Prior to joining the Stratford Fire Department he was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces. During this time he was stationed in London, Hagersville, Petawawa and Cobourg. He also served 10 months in Egypt as a Peace Keeper.

Bill enjoyed travelling and camping with his wife of 40 years, along with his two son’s and daughter. He also now has a total of seven grandchildren and one great grandson, William-named after him.

Bill was a very kind and gentle man with a huge heart. He was always there to help in any way that was needed.

He is forever loved and missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, family and friends.

Always and forever in our hearts.
