CAPTAIN RONALD MARCHAND

PENETANGUISHENE FIRE DEPARTMENT

Captain Ronald Marchand died from a work-related illness on December 28, 2021.  He joined the fire service in May 1991.

Family Memories

Ron was a dedicated and proud member of the Penetanguishene Volunteer Fire Department for 30 years and had retired from Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care in October of 2020 after 32 years.   He enjoyed spending time with his wife, daughter and his two grandsons. His love for fishing, hunting, and travel was contagious, and his family and friends have endless memories of their adventures together.

He was a man with a huge heart who loved his family and his career as a firefighter. Ron’s passion for his career was evident in everything he did, and he continued to inspire others with his focus on safety and prevention. An exceptional mentor inspiring both new and seasoned firefighters with his dedication and commitment.

He had an incredible sense of humor and a witty charm that drew people to him.  His smile was infectious, and he shared it generously. Ron was always good for a laugh or to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He always gave more than he took and continues to be admired greatly for this character trait.

Ron passed away from a work-related illness on December 28, 2021. He is greatly missed by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Although he is no longer with us, his legacy lives on through the countless memories of joy and laughter he shared with everyone around him.
