Captain Leonard H. Thompson – acting Chief with Windsor Fire and Rescue (Windsor, ON)

Captain Leonard Thompson died from a work-related illness on Aug. 6, 2021. He joined Windsor Fire and Rescue in June 1981.

Family Memories: ‘Cap’ or ‘Chief’ as he was known by many was a proud member of the Windsor Fire and Rescue for 30 years. He was always aware of others in need and gave his all in any emergency or situation. He took great pride in his profession and applied it in the local schools and throughout the community.

He was a no-nonsense guy who was respected by his fellow firefighters. He was involved in developing character in young men by coaching high school football for 25 years.

His death was the result of a work-related illness, and his leadership role will be missed by many.

He was cherished by his wife, children, grandchildren and many friends. Forever in our hearts and memories.
