Story

Adrian Vanderfluit

Adrian was a proud member of the Lethbridge Fire Department for 27 years.

He started with the department on September 11, 1979, and retired July 31, 2007. During his tenure he was a Fire Fighter/EMT working up to a Lieutenant. In 2003, he went into Fire Prevention to further enhance his skillset and help his fellow colleagues in another capacity. He found it particularly moving when dressed up as Sparky the Fire Dog, the number of kids that whispered secrets and really just needed a hug.

Adrian was a skilled tradesman carpenter and craftsman. He drafted dozens of houses and built and renovated several for his family to live in. He enjoyed camping, golfing, watching any and all sports and especially traveling with his wife and children. The memories of these trips and the experiences will always be something we cherish.

Adrian will be forever loved and deeply missed by his wife Gerda of 46 years, his children Joseph (Melissa) and Jaclyn (Kirk), and his buddy Piper and Grandpuppies.
