Story
John Thompson was a member of the Dundalk Fire Department since he joined at the age of 18 in 1977. John, or as most people referred to him as JT/Chief became the volunteer Chief in 1999 and full time Chief in 2001 for a total 17 years as Chief. He served 43 years on the department some with his father, later his son and during his illness two of his grandsons joined.
He was actively involved in the local Legion, which he also joined in 1977, minor hockey and although he was never a member of the Lions Club, he was always there to assist with events taking place. He enjoyed snowmobile rallies, poker runs, shuffle board tournaments, hunting, fishing and camping. He was a well-respected member of the community, making many friends and acquaintances along the way.
John is deeply missed by his wife Joanne, his children Jennifer (Steve), Michael (Erin), grandchildren Ryleigh (Aaric), Bradyn (Madison), Jaxyn, Jaykob and guardian angle to his great grandchildren Noa and Beau.
