Story

William John Britton

William John Britton, also known as Grandpa Bill by his loving family, joined the North York Fire Department in 1964 and served for over 20 years. He was a proud firefighter, whose career was cut short by a workplace injury. In 2007, Bill was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a work-related illness, and bravely fought a 15-year battle before succumbing to cancer on June 17, 2023, peacefully and surrounded by family.

Bill was also a lifelong devoted Leafs fan, Tilley hat model, car enthusiast and talented artist, having painted many beautiful landscapes that will be enjoyed by his family for years to come.

A loving father of two, grandfather of four and great-grandfather of three, his unique sense of humour will never be forgotten; Grandpa Bill stories will live on and keep the family laughing. We love you Grandpa Bill.
