Story

Platoon Chief Carl Reynolds, at the age of ninety-five, died May 6, 2020, fighting three different forms of cancer.

Family Memories

Carl was a proud member of the Galt Fire Department from 1952 – 1972. Amalgamation from the name of Galt to the City of Cambridge in 1973 presented Carl with the challenge of becoming the first Training Officer for the newly named city and in 1979, he returned to shift work as a Platoon Chief. In 1980, he was diagnosed with a heart condition which ended his career as a firefighter – according to Carl, the best job in the world.

It did not end his zest for living. In retirement, Carl carried his positive attitude forward. With his heart condition under medical control, he continued to enjoy cottage life with his family – the cornerstone of his life. He reinvented himself and his life by designing and building a new home on farm property that he purchased. With his cup overflowing, he was fortunate to travel the world, married to his wife Anne, for seventy-five years. May he rest in total peace.
