Story

Warren Frederic (no “k” as he often said) Brinkman was one of those men who has been referred to as a really great guy, and that he certainly was. He was a man of simple tastes; he profoundly loved his family, his home, and his life at Longbow Lake. Warren had a heart of gold, and he would go above and beyond to help out whomever, wherever, whenever. Anyone who knew Warren knew that he loved to talk; a quick trip to the store sometimes lasted hours because he would meet up with someone he hadn’t seen “for ages” and had to get caught up. He knew a lot of stories and relished telling them.

For over four decades Warren was involved with the Longbow Lake Volunteer Fire Brigade. He considered himself fortunate to be able to serve his community and considered it to be his calling in life. He loved his involvement in the fire service, in whatever capacity - be it a volunteer fire fighter, working with the Office of the Fire Marshal, or serving as the Manager of Fire and Emergency Services for the City of Kenora. When circumstances warranted it, Warren would proudly don full uniform. At home, Warren was most comfortable in a t-shirt, faded Carhartts, and a ball cap.

Our husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and friend will be remembered by many as one of the good guys. His laugh was infectious, his handshake firm, his moustache bushy, and his embrace comforting. Nothing was more important to Warren than his family; he loved us, and we loved him.

After a brave battle with a work-related illness, Warren passed peacefully in October 2023. He will be forever missed. We cherish our memories and carry Warren with us in our hearts, wherever we go.
