John Cholewa was with the Cambridge Fire Department as a professional firefighter for almost 30 years.

Family Memories

John Cholewa had a strong moral code and a powerful sense of commitment. He would move mountains for those he was close to. A loving husband, and an incredible father and hero to his only daughter.

John was extremely knowledgeable in what seemed like every possible topic. He enjoyed to read, learn, and understand how things worked. He was always happy to share his knowledge and experience if someone wanted to learn, and he took great pride in everything he did. An avid outdoorsman, John loved to hike, camp, fish and hunt, and he was always accompanied by a hunting dog or two.  He also liked to catch a ball game with his daughter or listen to one on the radio while on his way up north for a fishing trip with a good friend. 

John had a big personality, and he was still busy living when his life was suddenly cut short. He is missed every day, and it is a struggle to understand that he is no longer just down the road or a quick phone call away.  The life lessons and words of wisdom he shared are with us daily. Thank you, John – for everything.
