Story

District Chief Brian Balsdon

Toronto Fire Department from 1973 to 2006. He died of work related illness on November 29, 2022.

Brian was a devoted Fire Fighter, husband and father. He was stationed in Scarborough for much of his career and considered his co-workers as family. He was on the Rescue Team and also on the Diving Team. Brian was also a licensed Marine Mechanic and became an accomplished Wood Worker after he retired. He also got his pilot’s license and we enjoyed flying on the lakes around our home. He never stopped learning and enjoying challenges and learning opportunities.

Brian is survived by two children and three grandchildren. He also has two daughters and three grandchildren from our marriage. They worshipped him and thanked him, “for being the true father that you didn’t have to be.” Not a day goes by that he isn’t remembered and loved.
