Story
FIRST CLASS FIREFIGHTER FREDERICK (FRED) G. MORSE - CITY OF HAMILTON FIRE DEPARTMENT, ON
Fred was a devoted member of the City of Hamilton Fire Department, serving 35 years, retiring in 1989. He was also a proud member of the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (Airborne Jump Company) (51/54) and a veteran of the Korean War.
Throughout his life Fred was always in the service of others, never hesitating to help out family, friends or those in need. Even after retirement, Fred continued to serve those around him and for many years was the Secretary for the City of Hamilton Firefighters Pensioners Association.
To say Fred had a huge heart was an understatement. Upon retirement, he was presented with one of his uniform shoes (size 12 EE), mounted on a base with the inscription on the plague reading…” Happy retirement Fred. To the man with a heart as big as his shoe”. Simple words but a loud message from those whom with he served.
His death was the result of a work-related illness. A loving husband, devoted father and brother and a caring Grandfather and Great Grandfather, he continues to have a positive effect on those he cherished.
Forever in Our Hearts.
