Story
Ross Taylor joined the Etobicoke Fire department as a firefighter in 1964. Later with the Etobicoke Fire Prevention department as an Assistant Fire Prevention officer. In 1984 he was recruited and went to work in the Solicitor General’s office in the capacity of District Supervisor for Fire Safety and Inspection Services.
Ross was a natural leader and communicator. Fire personnel working with him over the years in all his occupations commented on his teaching capabilities. A born leader. And highly respected.
He was an avid reader on all war history. Generously sharing his knowledge with anyone willing to listen and those wanting to know. Developed board games which family and friends had great fun playing. Talented as a pitcher in Toronto intermediate league. He was being scouted by the American Baseball league but due to a shoulder injury that medical doctors were unable to treat at the time, this was the end of his sports career.
He was a loving, generous and kind husband to Catherine of 51 years. With three daughters, Leslie, Susan and Christine. Followed by five grandchildren who absolutely adored him. He was quite a character who we all miss…
