Captain Marvin Shantz died from a work-related illness on April 19, 2018. He joined the fire service in 1966.

Family Memories/Souvenirs de famille

Marv was a proud and dedicated member of the Stratford Fire Department for 30 years . His love for his family was paramount but he was also a passionate athlete and an avid sports fan. He contributed to his community coaching hockey and baseball and teaching swimming. He was reliable and he gave his utmost in all aspects of his life.

After his retirement in 1996 he enjoyed every moment of his time with family at the cottage and his winters with his wife and friends in Portugal. His death was the result of work-related cancer against which he fought bravely. He is dearly missed by wife (Mary Lou), daughter and son-in-law (Sherrill and Jerry), son (Stephen), grandchildren (Heather and Brett) and other family and friends.
