Story
FIREFIGHTER DAVID JOHN LOBB - LUNENBURG & DISTRICT FIRE DEPARTMENT, NS
Firefighter David John Lobb died from a work-related illness on October 5th, 2021. He joined the fire service in 2018.
David John - or “Uncle Buck’ as he was known by his fellow firefighters - was a proud member of the Lunenburg & District Fire Department. A larger-than-life man in body and soul, generous beyond measure, ever gregarious, with a captivating and self-effacing sense of humour. His life was a non-stop journey of selfless service. Originally from the UK, he did his stint in the Royal Navy and served as a Senior Mason and Past Master of the Croydon Airport Lodge No: 5047. He volunteered with a number of organisations in the service of his community, which included the Lunenburg and District Fire Department, which David John joined at age 65, and hardly missed a call, day or all hours of the night, right up to the “last call” that sadly brought his colleagues to his own door, as he died of heart failure. A gentle giant of a man with a larger-than-life personality and a great zest for life, missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by Julie, his beloved wife of 43 years.
