Story

Carl Danchilla was born and raised in the small town of Canora, Saskatchewan.  In 1973 he married his wife Lucille and moved to Ottawa for his firefighting training.  In 1980 Carl was employed by the City of Prince Albert Fire Department.  Carl and Lucille raised their daughter and two sons in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.  Carl advanced to the rank of Captain near the end of his career and earned the Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal in 2000, before retiring in 2003 with 25 years of service. Firefighting was indeed his true calling!

Aside from work,  Carl enjoyed carpentry, repairing items, gardening, the outdoors, being a Knights of Columbus and spending quality time with friends, family and their pets.  He was especially proud of being blessed with seven grandchildren and could be found teaching a new skill or playing games with them.  Carl passed away after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer in 2024.  Carl’s sense of humour and passion for life is dearly missed.
