Craig MacArthur
Deputy Chief
Story
Craig MacArthur was a dedicated 35-year member of the Hanover Fire Department. Throughout his career he proudly served in many roles including Firefighter, Pump Operator, Captain and was Deputy Chief for the past seven years. Craig embodied the spirit of a firefighter. He was deeply passionate about firefighting and his community. His knowledge and positive personality were respected amongst his fellow firefighter family and he always put the safety of others above all else.
His service was not without sacrifice. His 35-year career, marked by long hours and countless calls, ultimately led to his diagnosis of occupational cancer. Despite this, Craig remained an inspiration to all, demonstrating courage, strength and resilience throughout all of the devastating challenges that came with his diagnosis.
Craig’s life was his family. He was our hero and best friend. He was the one that we all turned to when life was hard. He loved his four wheeling trips and long weekends at the camp with his friends. He lived every day to the fullest and helped anyone he could along the way.
His legacy lives on, not only within the Hanover Fire Department but in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
