Story

Warren Robinson dedicated over 30 years of his life to the Ayer’s Cliff Fire Department, serving as both a volunteer firefighter and a respected captain. His commitment to the fire service was deeply personal; born from the tragic loss of his family home to a fire on Christmas Eve when he was just 12 years old.

At 15, Warren met the love of his life, Elizabeth. They shared more than 60 wonderful years of marriage, raising their daughter Karen in a home filled with laughter, love, and a healthy dose of silliness.

Years later, when Karen’s boyfriend Mike asked Warren for permission to marry her, Warren gave a typically thoughtful and strategic reply: “Join the fire department first.”

That encouragement sparked a lifelong career in the fire service for Mike, who went on to serve as fire chief and firefighter instructor in several municipalities across Quebec.

Becoming a grandfather brought Warren immense joy. He was a proud and supportive presence in the lives of his grandsons, Adam and Ian, always cheering them on at their events.

Warren was admired for his wisdom, sense of humor, and steadfast encouragement. As a mentor within the fire department and a beloved friend to many, he left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

After retiring from the fire service in 2001, Warren continued to inspire those around him with his guidance and warmth until his passing in 2024. His deep love for the fire service lives on through his oldest grandson, Adam, who now serves as a wildland firefighter in British Columbia—carrying forward the values Warren held dear.
