Marc Shapiro, a dedicated and respected firefighter at the Vancouver Airport Authority, leaves behind a legacy of service, leadership, and compassion.

Marc began his firefighting career in July 2003, quickly earning a reputation for his outgoing personality, exceptional skill, and unwavering commitment to helping others.

Marc had a deep passion for first aid, which became a defining aspect of his career. He not only excelled in emergency medical care but also led the department’s first aid program for many years, serving as the lead instructor and mentor to countless firefighters and first responders.

Rising through the ranks, Marc became a Lieutenant and truly came into his own as a leader. He led by example, with a deep sense of responsibility and a genuine concern for the well-being of his team. Near the end of his career, Marc served as acting Captain, where he continued to demonstrate the strength, integrity, and dedication that marked every step of his journey.

Marc Shapiro will be remembered not only for his professional excellence but also for the kindness, guidance, and laughter he shared with those fortunate enough to work beside him.
