Terry W Nepotiuk
Captain
Story
Terry Nepotiuk, at the age of 72, passed away on March 2, 2023 after a four year battle with lung cancer that metastasized to his brain and bones.
In 1976, Terry and I met and we married in 1979 and have two daughters Alexia and Andrea and four granddaughters, Julia, Laryssa, Maya and Sophia.
Terry began his firefighting career on July 6, 1981 at the Training Tower on Martingrove and Dixon Road for a period of five weeks. Terry’s first station was on Renforth Avenue near Centennial Hill. After ten years on the job (1991) Terry wrote the Captains Exam and was placed on the promotion list. He worked in four stations during his 30 year career, he worked at Reneforth Avenue, Martingrove Training Center at the Albion Road Station and after amalgamation in 1998 he worked in North York on Toryork Drive.
In 2011, Terry retired and spent time travelling, golfing and volunteering at our church. Terry and the other men at our church made the dough for the perogies and were called the dough boys, he loved being a part of the church community which is also a cultural centre (St. Joseph’s Ukrainian Catholic Church and Cultural Centre).
When Terry was very ill and near the end of his life he told me that he loved his job and that he had a great life and that he would not change any of it. Terry wanted to protect and serve his community and like all firefighters he was a true hero.
I miss Terry every day and I know that when he left this world he went with his strong belief in God and I pray that he is at peace.
