Story

Steve Pocock was an amazing brother, uncle and friend.  He along with his closest friend Ed Butler joined the Etobicoke Fire Department as teenagers, which began Steve’s distinguished career as a firefighter of 35 years.  Steve worked hard and eventually rose to the rank of Acting Chief, a position he held until his retirement in 2005. One of his greatest attributes professionally and personally was his willingness to always help others whenever the need arose.

Steve was admired by all who knew him for many reasons, but possibly none more than his talent to capture everyone’s attention with a story. He had the uncanny ability to turn an everyday event into a story that would have listeners laughing hysterically or left with a sense of awe and wonder. He was an avid sailor by summer and snowmobiler by winter. Steve loved his adventures and was an absolute joy to be around.

Steve Pocock “The Story Teller” is greatly missed, but his memory and stories will continue to be shared and bring a smile to the face’s of those who knew him for many years to come.
